Each year members of Central England Co-operative have the chance to vote in the Society’s Elections. As a member owned organisation these Elections offer members the chance to have their say in the running of the Society. It also means they have the opportunity to join our Membership and Community Council.

We’re looking for community champions that can really make a difference in their local community. Just take a look below if this sounds like it could be you.

What is a Membership and Community Council (MCC)?

A Membership and Community Council or MCC is a group of local people that are passionate about their community and want to make a difference. Each Council covers a particular area and helps to plan events and activities, including keep fit, arts and crafts, gardening and lots more.

What do our MCC members get up to?

If you have great people skills and knowledge of your local area you could be our missing link. Each council acts as a link between Central England Co-operative, it’s members, colleagues and their communities, so we need passionate community champions to help bring people together and help with events and activities.

We have a wide range of activities, spanning from Keep fit classes to gardening and learning a new language. Our council members also help deliver healthy eating and ethical workshops in local schools.

Our Council members usually meet every other month for two hours, so anything you can give can make a really big difference. In return you will receive an activity fee* and expenses for attending meetings and events on the MCC’s behalf.

What Criteria is there to become an MCC member?

  • You’ll need to have been a full member of Central England Co-operative for at least 6 months
  • You’ll need to be a regular customer of Central England Co-operative and spend a minimum amount per year.
